Pit Row Group now offers classes taught by transportation industry experts at multiple locations across the United States to become certified as a Pilot Car Driver, also known as a Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator. The WA State P/EVO Certification is recognized by 12 out 13 states currently requiring Certification.

Becoming a certified pilot car gives you more options for your job and career. We offer first-hand knowledge and over-the-road training in our classrooms. Our training focuses on Washington State's most important elements of being a pilot car driver, including:

 

TERMS & DEFINITIONS RELATED TO OS/OW MOVEMENT - ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES  OPERATOR/VEHICLE/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS - VEHICLE POSITIONING - IDENTIFYING & OBTAINING NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION/INSURANCE - SAFETY PROCEDURES FOR MOVEMENT & EMERGENCY/BREAKDOWN SITUATIONS - TECHNIQUES FOR SUCCESSFUL COMMUNICATION & TEAMWORK

Certification Requirements 

You must have a valid Driver's License to become a P/EVO and will be required to submit a photo as part of the student registration process AND bring your license the day of class as part of Pit Row's verification process.

*YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE/CERTIFY THAT DAY WITHOUT YOUR VALID LICENSE PRESENT!!*

(The name listed on the License WILL BE the name listed on the P/EVO Certification card. If your name has recently changed and you do not yet have an updated copy of your license, you will be required to show documentation that supports your request. If the instructor is unable to validate your request; you can update your P/EVO Certification once you are able to provide the proper documents. (Example: If you recently were married and have changed your name, bringing your marriage certificate will allow you to be certified using your new name.) Just ask your instructor for information on updating/replacing your P/EVO Certification Records!!)

According to State/Federal Regulations, to be certified as a Pilot Car Driver in the State of Washington, you must attend an 8 hour Instructor led course and pass the certification exam with a score of 80% or better.

Availability

Our classes are scheduled based on the Instructor's availability and there may be classes available in multiple locations on the same date. To determine what classes are available by date, please see the calendar below. To find the class located nearest to you, please see the map. 

Class begins PROMPTLY at 8:00 AM 

If you are late, you will be asked to contact Pit Row to reschedule for a later date.

(If you score 79% or lower on your exam; you will be given the opportunity to bring the materials you were assigned and attend the course and retake the exam again at no additional cost within 60 days from the original attempt. PLEASE NOTE: You WILL still be required to attend the entire course and must be ready to begin at 8:00 AM sharp.  If you score 79% or lower a second time but would still like to retake the exam, you will be required to complete a registration form and make payment as if you were a new student.)

KEEP IN MIND: Our Pit Row Instructors are limited to a maximum of 30 students per class and due to the high demand for Pilot Car Drivers we will accept student registrations up to the day of class, however, the only way to SECURE YOUR SEAT is to be paid in full!!

The cost of certification is $299 per student. We accept credit/debit cards, cash, certified funds (cashier's check and/or money order), OR paypal.  (We do not accept personal checks)  To pay via debit/credit card/paypal, there is a 5% processing fee bringing the total cost per student to $313.95.

* Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel. Refunds are available for any cancellation request made by email more than 7 days in advance of the originally scheduled class date. A $50 administrative fee will be withheld from any refund for cancellation. We're sorry but no-shows or any cancellation made in fewer than seven (7) days cannot be refunded. If you are unable to make the class you registered for, contact Pit Row to reschedule for another class within 90 days at no additional cost!!
